I can't believe this... I am in total shock right now. When Eric Foster went down with that gruesome accident, tears streamed down my face as he pounded his chest and rallied the troops to fight for the rest of the game... that was an ACCIDENT!! To think that Peyton Manning's CAREER IS in jeopardy over this... atrocity... is a whole different UNIVERSE.
I feel sick to my stomach, I understand wanting to play a physical defense. Hell, it is a physical game! I comprehend that... But rewarding injuries!? That's poor sportsmanship to put it in the mildest terms available! The object of the game is to win, not to injure! It is a game! NOT WAR! Playing dirty is something that it looked down upon by almost every NORMAL member of society. Most human beings can understand wanting to win without ruining the team for the rest of the season...or longer.
If Gregg William's isn't banned from the organization of football for life, I'm not sure I'll have a heart left to root with...Does anybody know what color blue blood dries as? What he promoted is despicable regardless of whether it ruined Peyton's life or not... But the fact that it may have caused, or at least certainly worsened, Manning's health problems....is a thought that I cannot fully process. I tried yelling a long and loud stream of profanities, but that just got the wife angry at me. Certainly not what I was hoping to accomplish!
This is truly the time where words fail to capture emotions. I'd have to paing an ugly picture to even get close to what I feel right now: It feels like I just caught the love of my life cheating on me with my best friend. After which she is pregnant from that crushing fling and wants to keep the baby, AND name it after the best friend. And then she wants to work things out so I have to live with that constant I-just-got-kicked-in-the-balls-feeling... Does that analogy relay how truly disgusted and sick to my stomach I feel? And trust me; with my battle of carcinoid cancer, the sick feeling is one I deal with on a daily basis.... but this. This is different.
I totally understand your sentiments... My only question is how many teams, coaches and players are secretly just shrugging to themselves and going "that is exactly how we think and do things here."
