File this under, "hmmmm" -
According to a South Florida Sun-Sentinel article, the Miami Dolphins is on Manning's short list as a preferred place if he isn't in Indy. According to the article, Manning and his wife own a condo there.
They are also a rebuilding team, with a star receiver in Brandon Marshall. For me, living in Lake Mary, FL, it would mean seeing him on TV more often and maybe being able to travel down to see a game or two. For the Division, they would haunt the Patriots, hopefully knocking them out of 1st place each year. For the Colts, it means playing them perenially and, ugh, getting beat the first few years maybe (or more).
In another article, it reports that Marshall was hanging out with Peyton at certain Super Bowl events. Clearly, if I were Marshall I'd be suggesting to Manning to give it up and come down to sunny (hot and humid) Florida.
Here's the article on them hanging out:
Here's the article on Manning wanting to go to Miami:
Again, could all this just be politicking? You bet. It scares me, of course, but there are worse teams than the Dolphins (read "Jets").
1. I can't imagine the Marino parallels that would roll out of ESPN HQ if #18 went to Miami. The only thing to silence that would be a ring or two, and I don't think Miami's there yet.
2. If he does end up in the AFC East, this allows him the opportunity to assault both the Pats AND Jets... but, again, I just don't think the Dolphins have enough on the roster.
I think Arizona would be a great fit. Good receiving corp (they do need a TE). Good running game. Good defense that could get better if they played more with a lead. The weakness is the o-line, but Manning can make a bad o-line look good.
lol I saw this, and one of the key things was Manning owns a Condo in Miami and his wife likes it there.... well everyone owns a Condo in Miami and likes it there.
Ha! I broke the news here first - and not that "other blog that shall not be named" has the story! Well played, Mr. Monkey.
@buymymonkey Have u been banned from that other site monkey?
@GregMitchell1@buymymonkey No. I have imposed a personal ban. While I may check over there once in a while, I will not write fan posts there anymore, and doubt I will post anything. I just don't get into the hype machine there, and frankly am disgusted with how BBS spent so much time bashing Bill Polian. HE turned that site for a time into his personal catharsis, even when people posting begged him to stop. He just didn't care. That sort of turned me.
I want to work hard to make this site as good as possible. I like the fact that people post intelligently and rarely bash each other. And I like the well thought out articles that pose both sides of a discussion.
Sorry for the long response.
Whats really sad, is SB as a blog is pretty good..i go to a Lions SB blog that is awesome, the head writer, Sean Yuille, isnt a narcisisstic jerk, respects others opinions, etc.
He even put out a poll for charity that let you rate his blog...the SB blog with the highest rating got to donate some $ to a charity of their choice.
Now, did we see that on BBS's SB blog?
Of course not, he would have gotten some of the WORST ratings of SB blogs and he KNEW it.
@buymymonkey Yea I was one of the many begging to drop the bp nonsense but I got banned. I rarely go over there, if you don't agree with him you're a moron.
I'm sorry but Miami would be a terrible place to go if he wants another ring. Its far fetched but I'd like to see him land in San Fran. I really hope this is all a smoke and mirrors ploy for some team to trade the house for Luck.
