Twitter campaign to save Colts

Written by Todd Smith on .

Two Twitter campaigns in support of Reggie Wayne, Robert Mathis and Peyton Manning caught Phil B's eye:

Mike Varick, like so many other Colts fans, doesn’t want to see QB Peyton Manning leave the Colts. Owner Jim Irsay has to decide by March 8 about shelling out a $28 million team option to the NFL’s only four-time MVP, or let the franchise QB become an unrestricted free agent.

Scott McKnight would like nothing more than to see soon-to-be unrestricted free agents DE Robert Mathis and WR Reggie Wayne re-sign with the team. The team leaders would have no problem landing a contract elsewhere in free agency.

Rather than sit around and wait to see what happens next in the offseason, the two Colts fans decided to do something pro-active with the creation of Twitter accounts to summon support. Consider them tweet petitions. Varick is also set up on Facebook.

I happen to follow both of those guys and enjoyed watching the mayhem yesterday.  Keep it up Blue Believers!

I just don't see how _anyone_ outside of 56th street can have an opinion about this decision either way. $28 million... if he's not 100%, if teh Colts pay him twenty-eight-freaking-million-dollars and he turns around and is hurt again or a shadow of his former self.... how is that good at ALL for the team and the fans? Conversely, those who argue to let him walk ALSO dont' know that he's not 100%.

Basically, no one knows or will know his health status until early March.

As a fan, a huge fan, of Manning's I emotionally don't want to see him go. But I can't bring myself to "campaign" to keep him all the while knowing there's the giant elephant in a room on 56th street that is his health and recovery progress.
