The secondary needs help

Written by Todd Smith on .

Unexpectedly, the Colts decided to go offense during the draft leaving a huge need unaddressed: the secondary. Currently the team is thin at both corner and safety with little experience and even less depth. Paul Kuharsky took note of this problem:

Jerraud Powers is a quality corner and a good leader. But after him, there are no proven corners on the roster. Is the second starter Chris Rucker? Kevin Thomas? Mike Holmes? Brandon King?

That’s not a great group to be choosing from. Look for team to give some undrafted rookies a chance and grab a veteran or two as guys come free during camp cuts.

Andre Goodman is best CB out there. W can also expect some more CBs, with remaining skills to be cut before the season.

Well we at least know that Colts games will be fun to watch - for both teams.

Yes, though certainly not a top-flight corner. He's young and pretty solid when healthy. I would compare him to a younger Sheldon Brown in terms of quality.

Just a question for you guys:  would anyone be upset if we swung a deal for Mike Jenkins (assuming he is actually available)?

@gbearrin is jenkins any good (shoulder injury notwithstanding)? legit question. if yes, then i wouldn't personally be against it, but only if it were for a late round pick, since those were the major head scratchers this past weekend.
