Richards: Brackett still loves city, team that gave him a chance in the NFL

Written by Marcus Dugan on .

Phil Richards of The Indianapolis Star has a great article today on Gary Brackett, who, according to Richards, has seen some interest from other teams, but it still recovering from his surgery.  If you're not familiar with Brackett's story, I would recommend finding some time to learn about him.  He's a fascinating person both on and off the football field. Here's some of Richards' take on the aftermath of all the releases during the offseason for Brackett:

Brackett went home to Carmel.

He is a lifelong long shot. He was a walk-on who became team captain at Rutgers. He was an undrafted free agent who did it again with the Colts. He did both by doing more. No one studied harder. No one watched more film. Nobody learned to identify and read the patterns and tendencies, and even the mannerisms, better. No one was so consistently around the football.
