Report: Chiefs have talked to Manning's agent

Written by Todd Smith on .

According to Bob Fescoe of the 610 Sports radio in the Kansas City Chiefs have spoken with Tom Condon about Peyton Manning twice:

If true the Chiefs are staring down the barrel of a tampering charge according to ESPN's Bill Williamson. It's been reported that tampering is rampant during the Combine (and has been for more than a decade) and is largely overlooked. However, Manning may be the most coveted free agent in history. The Indianapolis Colts will be unlikely to look the other way and could ask the league to look into the situation.

In an odd twist of fate, the Chiefs are also embroiled in another tampering investigation. The Detroit Lions have lost a draft pick and draft positions after actively recruiting current Chiefs players.

Of all the other teams in the Manning rumor mill, I'd tolerate him going to the Cheifs. He can beat up on Tebow and Rivers twice a year, they're not a rival to the Colts, they have a running game, and they have a lot of holes on offense so Peyton could bring Wayne, Clark (if released), and Saturday since KC really only has Charles and Bowe (if he resigns) as formidable talent. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one!

I have a question: just because another team would loose draft picks for tampering, does that mean the Colts would get the draft picks they lost?

Yay, more draft picks for us! Maybe.

I hope the Colts do report Kansas City because if true (and it probably is) then that's MAJOR tampering. I can see the Colts getting at least a second from the league for this.
