Phil B's coaching candidates

Written by Todd Smith on .

Phillip B. Wilson has a short run down of some potential coaches.  I won't bother going through each of them but there are some big names (unlikely), some former coaches (possibly) and several assistants (more likely).

I like Zimmer for the head coach position, and he can coach the 4-3 defense.

Who is actually voting for Tressel and Phillips? That's a joke, right?

@psvirsky It better be, or I want off this planet. Why not Jack Del Rio, otherwise?

I would prefer a young guy with some experience and energy.

@paulcareyjr What does age have to do with it? Coughlin's the oldest coach in the NFL and he's done fine, after being a grumpy old man, he's adjusted his thinking and oriented himself to coaching the new generation. Its ability to change that's more important than age and energy, didnt you learn anything from Tony Dungy coaching this ball club?

@Platinum That is just what I would like to see for this organization, I do not have anything against older coaches, I would just like a young coach to grow with the young team since we will be rebuilding. I feel that a young coach with energy would be a good exciting thing for the team.

Hopefully you do not feel that young coaches can not get it done...

@Platinum Ok cool, yup never said it was a prerequisite but just that is what I would prefer. Hopefully who ever we get brings a winning mentality to the team, along with the ability to teach as well as make good decisions. I would love for this person to be young and stick around for many years.... many...

@paulcareyjr They can but its not a prerequisite to success. I was trying to make clear that age shouldnt really matter. Ability is all we should care about and if the person is young to boot then its all well and good.

Mike Zimmer with Spags as DC, Sherman as OC, and Ferentz as token Iowan

Bill Cowher???? Lord please no! Between his jaw and 18's forehead, TV screens would explode! There shall be only ONE prominent body part in Indy and that's 18 thank you very much!

I'd be ok with Zimmer or Sherman. Sherman would, in my mind solidify the story that Luck is our QB next year...

Ugh. That's a big list of no's from me, with the exception of Mike Zimmer. I actually threw up a little when I saw Childress on the list. Yuck.
