McKenzie off the list

Packers Director of Player Personnel Reggie McKenzie is highly regarded by the Colts and now highly unavailable according to Adam Schefter:
The Oakland Raiders will hire Green Bay Packers director of football operations Reggie McKenzie as their next general manager, according to a league source.
The two sides have been engaged in talks over the past week and are still ironing the details of McKenzie's role and his powers within the organization, the source said.
@18to88 Never any confirmed reports they asked to speak to him. Only media speculation he was on the list.
@18to88 I thought they did ask for permission. Either way he's a Raider for 25 years. Highly endorsed by Ron Wolf.
@supes2k1 Because in Indy, the owner wants to pick the coach, the QB, and the 1st round pick.
Be interesting to see what happens with the coach. He strikes me as a bit of a buffoon, both as a person and as a guy-who-would-trade-that-much-draft-value-for-Carson-Palmer. Seems like someone who was highly regarded, like McKenzie, would first get some assurances about power structure--esp if you believe a couple reports last year that Jackson was in Davis' ear about firing Cable, who seemed to have some idea what he was doing, and replacing him with, well, Jackson. Also given Jackson's very publicly stated desire for even more control. From afar, the smart play would seem to be insisting on a strong hand...or just pointing out that the guy they've had coaching and making personnel decisions is kind of an idiot, and they're wise to start over, one year in or not. But again, that's from afar.
