Emanuel was fired by Purdue earlier this year where he coached a 4-3 defense--yes a 4-3. You can find Emanuel's Purdue bio here.
@omahacolt It won't happen...it just stikes me as an odd choice. He's coached 3-4 guys before and had some success with his defenses. Pagano is likely the defensive mastermind going forward, but it certainly was an odd call.
I believed he's coached current 3-4 linebackers Ryan Kerrigan, Anthony Spencer, and Shaun Phillips.
@buymymonkey Because Morgan Burke gave Danny Hope a contract extension when he deserved to be, at best, only not fired. The defense wasn't the problem, and hasn't been the problem up here. It's been the milquetoast offense and horrible head coaching decisions.
@The Walking Eye@buymymonkey The defense was ninth in the conference in both points and yards given up. While I don't disagree that the Offense and ST coverage seemed like bigger issues, I wouldn't give the D a pass, either. Coverage in the back 7 was mystifying at times, downright stupid at others.
@The@ManiacallySteve Walking Eye @buymymonkey w/ 2 of 3 units playing poorly and very, very bad QB play, its tough for a defense to stand out.
Colts hired this guy as the DL coach, not DC. The DL has been the bright spot the last two years, w/ Kerrigan and the DTs last year (K Short and B Gaston). Also considering he coached Shaun Phillips, Anthony Spencer, and Cliff Avril... Purdue always seems to turn out great DL prospects. Surprising hire yes but based on the NFL prospects this guy coached, its seems like a decent move.
@buymymonkey Purdue had to fire someone. They were looking for a scapegoat for underperforming yet again.
