Madsen: Grading the Colts by Position

Written by Marcus Dugan on .

Colts Authority Daily Links 10/02/12

Matt Madsen of Bleacher Report took a look at the Indianapolis Colts' first quarter of the season and graded each positional group, seeing Linebacker as a bright spot:

Newly assigned outside linebacker Robert Mathis is tied for seventh in the league with four sacks, even after the Colts early bye week. Kavell Conner, Jerry Hughes and Jerrell Freeman have all contributed a sack, as well.

As you can imagine, the other bright spot, according to Madsen, is the Quarterback position - some guy named Luck...  Don't forget to click the link.

Meh.  Again, I find that the best writers on Bleacher Report also happen to write here.  I'll stick to their articles.  Also, I'm not sure how he came to the conclusion that three games equals one quarter of the season.

Thanks for keeping up the daily links, Marcus.  Excellent job!

Thanks for the feedback.  I definitely disagreed with a few things in this one, too (like his math, as you pointed out).  I think Costanzo and Brown are doing better than he thinks they are, for one.  You might've already seen it, but Todd Smith (of Colts Authority) did a really nice, well-informed write up for Bleacher Report along the same lines as this one back on 9/27.

 @MarcusDugan You're welcome.  Fine job.

What I take away from this article is Madsen is a guy who looks at stat sheets but doesn't pay attention to the games or look at anything in context.  His conclusions on Castonzo, Brown and McAfee are baffling.

I will continue to read content from those also writing here, such as Todd's piece you point out.
