Most news sources are exaggerating the Joe Lefeged situation; the most recent report confirms that Indy's safety has been released from custody, even though the true headline should read "Colts Safety - the One They're Clearly Trying to Replace This Year - Released From Custody". While Lefeged's recent escapades have made the acquisition of LaRon Landry (and his health in 2013) more crucial to Indy's success, they aren't as harmful as some reports are painting them out to be.
For the record: Joe Lefeged technically was a captain last year. For a few games, as a special teams player. I know the offseason's more about speculation than anything else, but I'm getting sick of this tabloid garbage.
