Kravitz: Colts may be in contact with Fisher

Written by Todd Smith on .

Bob Kravitz joined Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio today and dropped a bombshell (or at least a newsworthy note):

Kravitz dropped a bombshell during an intriguing 15-minute chat.  Kravitz believes that the Colts, who continue to employ Jim Caldwell as the head coach but neither Vice Chairman Bill Polian or G.M. Chris Polian, already have reached out to Jeff Fisher.  Kravitz also thinks that Fisher would then have input on who the next G.M. would be, creating a package deal.

Bob clarified this later on Twitter:

And if I misspoke, that's on me, but to set the record straight, I don't know if they've talked to Fisher. Guessing they did but don't know

@jbuck41 Could be right. The general view his fans seem to offer is that Fisher's years in Tennessee were severely hampered by owner Bud Adams.

Remember that Fisher is largely a defensive-minded coach from the Walsh/Seifert tree. He likes to use a ball-control offense and a 4-3 defensive scheme. Offensively he'll need to either keep the staff or change his approach to jive with the Air Coryell/vertical passing offense. His 4-3 is really well-suited for Indy as he employs cover 2 frequently.

Big question for Fisher is his ability to adjust offensively.
