Hayes: No ideal candidates

Written by Todd Smith on .

Reggie Hayes (and many Blue Believers) thought Jim Harbaugh would have been the perfect head coach for the Colts.  Sadly, the team is a season late on landing Captain Comeback. Also, there's no Tony Dungy hanging around waiting to be hired.  So who will be the next head coach? Hayes doesn't know but the pickings are slim:

The Colts aren't going to get Harbaugh. He might swing by while winning the Super Bowl next month, but he won't be sticking around.

And that's the biggest problem for the Colts now that they've fired Jim Caldwell after three years. The obvious ideal candidate doesn't exist.

It'll be up to Colts owner Jim Irsay and general manager Ryan Grigson to find the coach and explain why he's ideal.

@mattshedd Why do Midwestern roots matter?

@Pied IMO, it doesn't. However, I am trying to think about Irsay's desire to build the team the right way. He wants people who will understand the fans. Grigson was a native Hoosier, I could see them looking for similar things in HC.
