Colts Injury Update: Brown Out
Written by Olly Dawes on .
According to the Associated Press, Donald Brown will be out 2-3 weeks with a knee injury. Vick Ballard is expected to start Sunday in his place, against the second worst run defense in the league; hopefully he'll be able to continue where Brown left off, as the Colts's starter was improving in every game he played. Currently, New York's defense has squared off against Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Miami, San Francisco, and Houston; despite criticisms aimed at them, those are five tricky games.
Other players who did not practice today include Pat Angerer, Robert Mathis, Joe Reitz, Fili Moala, Vontae Davis, and Martin Tevaseu; on a positive note, Freeney's apparently good to go, and Satele should get the start against the Jets.
Well, at least one of those games will be against the Jets, who've had problems stopping the run this year. That said, given the O-line's tendency to stink, I'm not about to declare the Colts game a guaranteed success against them, not by a long shot.
@AJ_ I heard the Jets are dealing with some D line injuries. I haven't verified it, but I think I saw some blurb that they had signed Daniel Muir (the same), to shore up their depth.
Man. Hopefully, it didn't happen during his discount double check/BJ Raji dance: http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/181gdqosq6czvgif/original.gif
But seriously, that sucks to see him get hurt just as he, and to some less pronounced degree, the line, were beginning to hit their stride.
@MarcusDugan I'm disappointed too. But at the same time, I admit, I *was* making jokes about having injured himself dancing. I Tweeted something like "... when Packers fans said his dance was lame, I didn't think they meant literally."
Don't throw the stones at me too hard, please. (*puppy dog pleading look*)
@MarcusDugan I don't think so. For football and basketball I post as @AJ_IU_ColtsFan. I don't really Tweet all that much (I actually dislike Twitter), but I do it for games, some random commentary, etc.
I think this is a bit of a blow. Brown is good out in space and he is a decent check down option. He's having a decent year so far
@RobertItoh i think it's a huge blow. brown, like addai in his prime, does things that don't necessarily show up on the stat sheet. it seems like at least a couple times every game he turns a 4 yard loss into a 1 yard gain. i'm happy to see that carter will get some carries though, I think he can play.
@zgs1288 @RobertItoh I don't know if it's a HUGE blow, though it will definitely hurt their hurry-up offense. Still, the Colts have been getting a lot smarter. One of the best articles I read going into the Packers was Nate Dunlevy's "Drawing up a Gameplan", in which he says the Colts should run it left against the Packer's D - I watched for it, and the Colts took advantage of the left side like it was going out of style. As long as the Colts stay smart on offense, Ballard should be able to hold his own.
@RobertItoh I agree, Rob. I was very happy to see Donald running better and better, and finding ways to break loose despite having a bad OLine. Hopefully he comes back and runs even better. Hate to see him have knee problems. It's retarded to post "no big loss" truthfully given that he's the leading YPC rusher in the league, or something like that.
@omahacolt I think you misread. It didn't say "omahacolt is out with a knee injury"
@NateDunlevy man..they are saing #Arrow is looking a lot like #TheCape. Remember that gem of a show?
