Thus, the Colts could, in theory, sign the first overall pick long before the draft happens. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello tells us that the Colts could sign the top pick as of Friday, after a pair of coin flips lock in the draft order.
And so, theoretically, Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning could end up as teammates, after all. The Colts can sign Luck before they cut Manning.
There is no reason to do it anymore. Rookies are essentailly slotted into pay spots. It was done with Long becasue there was someone else as a possible #1 and they wanted to see who they could get a deal done with. Same happened with Mario Williams and Reggie Bush I believe
And so if they don't sign Luck right away, does this tell us something? Or if they do sign him right away, I know it likely tells us Manning is out, but is that 100% a sure sign. Ugh.
I don't think it says much and I doubt they will do it anyways, I think Irsay wants to show respect to RGIII
