Jim Irsay is becoming a PR nightmare for the Indianapolis Colts, after the last week and a half. First, his comments last week implied that Peyton Manning wanted to leave Indy, therefore asking them to draft Luck -
- entirely plausible, by the way, but untrue -
Thanks to exclusive footage that will air Wednesday night on Showtime's Inside the NFL, we know what Irsay told his team in the moments after the victory.
"That other guy next door (Peyton Manning), is one of the greats and I have nothing but gratitude towards what he's done for this team," the owner said. "But today is today. And we all know that we want to go and get this (Irsay holds up his right hand with the Super Bowl ring on it). Anyone who doesn't want more than one of these shouldn't wear a horseshoe because that's what it's about."
His comments on Twitter are beginning to remind me of my little brother's comments on Facebook (except my brother uses real words, practical reasoning, and doesn't sound slightly illiterate). Irsay would say this to me:
I do pray for you unhappy,shit-slingers...who wants to live on a planet with those who don't like themselves..we want happy, kind people:)
I don't disagree with your comments, Jim. I think that your intentions are well-meant. I totally understood that, by telling the media that Manning recommended Andrew Luck, you were telling them that Manning had confidence in the rookie - that's all. The backlash from that comment was totally unnecessary.
I even understand this one - Irsay is trying to say that players involved with the Colt organization have to be thinking long-term at this point. They didn't go for Trent Richardson because he was the best option in the league; they went for him because he was/is the best young option in the league. In other words, Irsays comments themselves don't annoy me.
He just needs to talk in a more intelligent manner.
Thanks 2 many ignorant n mean spirited media types, only some, certaInly not all;Man you helped FIRE UP our team..you were AWESOME! Thank YOU!
... should really be this ...
If the media wanted to fire us up, they did a good job. #5-2
Same point, but it'd make him seem 40 years older. In this case, sadly, that's a good thing.

I'm not paraphrasing/editing. That was his actual tweet. Anyway, with a bit of editing, it becomes this:
We started something great in '97. It worked once; it can work again. #Colts2013
It's not what you're saying, Jim. It's how you're saying it.
