2012 Projected Franchise Tag Info
With the incredibly number of players hitting free agency this year you have to wonder who the Colts will tag. Before asking the question, you should also consider the cap implications of the tag. Luckily the folks at Football Outsiders have a list of projected tag value for both offense and defense by position.
If we go all in on rebuild, the only one I can imagine tagged is Garcon. Tagging someone else will, to me at least, indicate that we aren't going into full rebuild mode.
@coltsauth_todd@gizzardfanny Since the tenders are roughly equivalent for WRs and DEs (9.5 M and 10.5 M respectively), if we have to pay 10 M to one player, I think it has to be Mathis, despite my growing appreciation for Garçon. We could substitute 85´s play in the offense with a good WR, while we´d need an excellent DE to replace Supermathis´ impact on the defense, and those are always hard to find anyway.
