Safety Deandre McDaniel Signs with Colts

DeAndre-McDanielSafety Deandre McDaniel tweeted earlier today that he has signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
Signed with the Indianapolis Colts today! New home! It's not where u start, its where u finish!
McDaniel was one of the highest rated safeties in the 2010 NFL Draft, and could have easily gone drafted in the early rounds if not for character concerns. He played a hybrid safety/linebacker role in Clemson's defense and tallied 102 tackles and 8 interceptions in 2009 -- his junior year. Had he chosen to enter the draft at that point, he would have very likely been the top safety prospect. He tallied 73 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss, 4 interceptions, and 6 pass breakups as a senior. McDaniel excels more toward the box than as a coverage safety in open field and has the size, 6-foot, 217 pounds, to lay hard hits on his victims. His other biggest question mark is a slow 4.6 second 40-yard timed speed. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints earlier this year and will likely be added as a member of the practice squad. Coltzilla will follow the story for any updates as they become available.
