Various media outlets, including WTHR13 in Indianapolis and Chris Mortensen of ESPN.com, are reporting that Colts QB Peyton Manning is likely to miss the Colts' season opener against the Houston Texans on September 11. The reports state that the team is concerned with the rate with which Manning is healing, and that Manning will be re-evaluated by several specialists to determine the cause of the problem. One possibility, put forth by Mortensen, is that scar tissue has encased the nerves and is preventing their regeneration. What ever the cause, it now seems unlikely that the holder of the longest active start streak in the NFL is going to continue that streak a week from today. Coltzilla will update the situation as new information becomes available.
