Post-Game Coverage: Inside The Huddle: With a great defensive effort and an offense working hard to overcome the loss of several key players, the Colts take down the Cincinnati Bengals. In pre-game interviews, the Colts listed eliminating big plays, pressuring the opposing quarterback, and avoiding more injuries as keys to beating the Bengals. How'd they do? Pre-Game Objectives:
- Eliminate big plays - With the exception of a fake punt on fourth-and-one which resulted in a 42 yard run, the Bengals running game managed only 30 yards all afternoon. Their passing game was limited to two plays of 20+ yards. Grade: B
- Contain Carson Palmer - Palmer managed 31 of 42 for 269 passing yards and 2 touchdowns but gave up 3 interceptions and was sacked twice. Good defensive pressure on Palmer, on a pass targeting Terrell Owens, resulted in a pick-six for Kelvin Hayden. Grade: A-
- Avoid further injuries - Judicious use of several key players - Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney were on a limited play count - kept the injury risk low. Dan Muir went down mid-way through the third quarter but returned shortly after. No other injuries have been reported, although Jacob Tamme is said to have aggravated the back injury he's been fighting. Grade: A
