Manning Likely Out For Opener, Re-evaluation Pending

Now, after all of this craziness, WTHR is reporting that sources are saying that Manning will not play next Sunday:

Eyewitness News has learned Colts quarterback Peyton Manning will likely miss the start of the season. Several sources tell 13 Sports that Manning will not play in the season opener in Houston next Sunday. Sports Director Dave Calabro was told that the MVP quarterback is being re-evaluated by several doctors because of slow progress from neck surgery.

Personally, I'm not sure how much stock I put into that report. What I do put stock into is Chris Mortenson's report that the Colts were aware that Manning would likely not play Week One when they signed Collins. According to Mortensen, there has been no final report on Manning's availability for the week one game, but the Colts do not expect to have him. No 2nd surgery/procedure for Manning is planned, as of now. He's getting multiple opinions still waiting for answers on slow progress.

Talking to sources, obviously varying opinions. One possibility is scar tissue trapping inflammation/nerves but no consensus. on that.
