Mike Chappell of the Indy Star is reporting today that the Colts are trying out Dan Orlovsky and Brodie Croyle in light of Kerry Collins' concussion.
From the Star:
Orlovsky has appeared in 13 games in three seasons, seven as a starter. He was 0-7 as a starter with the Detroit Lions in 2008, when they finished 0-16. Croyle appeared in 18 games with Kansas City from 2006-2010. He lost all 10 of his starts. There hasn't been anything new on Collins out of the Colts yet, so if he's out for Monday's game, the Colts would be left with only Curtis Painter for active quarterbacks for the game. This could be an indication that the Colts are not confident in Collins' health, in regards to Monday's game at least. Orlovsky and Croyle won't be challenging Curtis Painter for the starting/second string job, but will just be depth in case of an emergency. [UPDATE] Sources say that Dan Orlovsky was signed to the Colts, a sign that Collins will most likely not play against the Buccaneers. Instead, Curtis Painter will get his first start. While some will call for Orlovsky to start over Painter, I would urge you to ignore those pleas. No matter what one may say, Painter absolutely did not get outplayed by Orlovsky in the preseason, and Painter has a much deeper knowledge with the Colts offense, not to mention timing with the receivers. Orlovsky is an emergency measure, no more.
