Sitting out Wednesday were DT Tommie Harris (hamstring), DE Jamaal Anderson (groin), OG Jaimie Thomas (back), LB Ernie Sims (appendectomy), LB Cody Glenn (neck), CB Jerraud Powers , S Al Afalava (groin), WR Austin Collie (knee), WR Anthony Gonzalez and WR Reggie Wayne
Powers and Wayne were both being held out for non injury reasons (Wayne had a personal day, Powers was just resting). The injuries to Harris and Anderson are not helping their case to stay on the team. Harris has struggled with injuries for the last few years, hamstring and knee injuries being the reason why he was let go from Chicago. Anderson isn't in a good place after the Colts signed former Carolina DE Tyler Brayton earlier this week, someone with a similar skillset to Anderson. If he's sitting out practice, he's not giving himself a very good chance to compete with Brayton for what will likely be the last DE spot. The most concerning players here are Gonzalez and Collie. Both players need to be healthy this season. Neither injury seems to be serious, but with both receivers missing serious time last year, there is concern coming into the season. Especially with Gonzalez, who Caldwell says is “working through a couple of physical issues, one in particular.’’ Gonzalez needs to get himself healthy. If he doesn't keep himself healthy this season, he's going to have find himself a new home.
