Here at Colts Authority, much of our work is based on game film and statistical breakdowns, but so many of our biggest questions and interests regarding trends, playcalling, etc. aren't tracked by many outside sites. Not by sites that offer those stats to the public, anyway.
So, one of the things that we'd like to launch at CA is the Colts Authority Game Charting Project, where we chart every game and keep track of things like formations, route combinations, offensive and defensive line play, substitution patterns, etc. With the onset of things like NFL Game Rewind, DVR, etc., it's something that even a fan-driven blog like ourselves can do.
The only thing that would stop us from this would be man-power. While we do have some intelligent, motivated people working as part of the CA staff, we don't have the time to be able to chart everything we want to for every game.
That in mind, we've taken to the streets of the internet to find game-charting volunteers to help us out. It wouldn't involve much time per person, and you wouldn't necessarily need to have DVR/Game Rewind previously. We would split the responsibilities across a few different people weekly and would provide access to game film if necessary.
While the project likely won't reach full capacity this year, what we're able to accomplish this season will set the groundwork for the project for future years.
