Here's the deal about preseason tickets. My package has a per ticket face value of $88. If we all woke up tomorrow and the NFL said, "Preseason is gone. We're gonna do it just like college and just jump in to the regular season. 16 games, 8 home 8 away, Merry Christmas," do any of you think the face value of those tickets would stay at $88? Season ticket holders subsidize the preseason and, in turn, make regular season tickets more affordable for the market. The $176 for my two preseason games would be evenly distributed to the price of the 8 regular season games. Essentially, the price of my $88 regular season seats would go up $22 each, meaning regular season tickets in my price section would be $110 a pop. You're not going to save anything by losing the preseason. I hope they cut the preseason to two games, keep the regular at 16 and expand the playoffs. I prefer that to an 18 game slate.
This is a league with strong parity where they still actually have to enforce a salary floor or else some owners would skimp and pocket the difference *coughcoughGLAZERScoughcough*
good old Jim Irsay
For those who haven't seen anything about the Annual yet, here is a link to our announcement from a few days ago: http://www.coltsauthority.com/2013-articles/august/announcing-the-colts-authority-annual.html
I resent NFL network's and thursday nite football and ESPN for horking MNF, but I can't stay mad. If I cared THAT much i would get cable or directv or some such garbage
You have 8 home games during a season. And 2 friendlies in the pre season. I understand why owners would want to squeeze every single penny from the fans. I don't think it's right, but I understand it.
Phil didn't talk to long or too boring. I was ready for bed after 12 hours at proto, happy to stay up another hour to listen to him.
I want Thornton to take over so badly. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm with all the people who believe he can be the real deal.
Ask about the bjork werner adaptation. I'm scared that a guy labelled as a project is missing so much time in his rookie trainning camp.
3 TOs in the first quarter of SD-CHI last I saw. Cutler-Rivers fail-off. Could be fun in a trainwreck sort of way.
Biggest thing I took away from the game is a sad about one thing. The Colts signed 2 significant FAs and drafted two OLs and still had two gaping holes on the first team OL.
@Shake1n1bake can see it from his house
BTW NBA and MLB teams, play 41 and 81 games a season respectively and can barely put 12 thousand people to watch games.
@chewie_33 That's my stance.
@GregC but I'm sure the guy will spend time in jail for some reason sometime in the future if he hasn't already
@GregC nah... finding a petty criminal here is like searching a needle in a haystack
@MarcusDugan we are at the point we just want some new blood at the o-line
@MarcusDugan YOU'RE WRONG!!!
just kidding, everyone who listens to us is right! ♥
@chewie_33 though who is healthy in camp can be a big deal. Think about Bethea's career arc if he hadn't been able to play in his rookie camp rather than having blown it up and unseated a starter in Doss.
@chewie_33 there are projects and there are projects, Werner led the ACC in sacks last year. Dude can play at a high level, he's not just raw athleticism like saw Ziggy Ansah.
@Shake1n1bake I HATE HATE HATE HATE Philip Rivers.
@Shake1n1bake DYNAMIC DUO
if you're a real QB you should be able to exploit the Colts playing a sub-Zibby level 3rd+ string SS.
@Shake1n1bake C.J. Spiller is my RB crush.
@chewie_33 @GregC @Shake1n1bake On local radio last week, Gary Brackett was asked which player he ever had the most bad blood with. He paused like he wondered if he should say it or not, then went ahead and said something along the lines of 'Philip Rivers...is a jerk. The guy's just a jerk. And he would try to trash talk, but he was outdated and old school'
It was hilarious.
