In this week's video breakdown, I take a look at Hugh Thornton's debut at right guard.
The video is a touch on the long side, and improved intros/camera quality are coming, but I do show my face in this one and break down a few different plays.
Overall it was an impressive debut from Thornton, there was one play in which Thornton got beat by a swim move that didn't make it into the final video, but outside of that play and the final thing I touch on in the video, there was little to complain about from Thornton's performance on Saturday night.
Kyle, sorry, I can't get over seeing your face for the first time. Man, you are such a kiddo. If I haven't listen to you or read you before I would have a hard time taking you seriously.
Nice, Kyle! My favorite part: When you said "he keeps his head on a swivel" you actually swivel your head.
That was really well done. I look forward to more as the season goes on.
Question, do you think McGlynn is better at C than Satele? I'm not counting on Holmes until I see him. With Thorton sure to win a starting job, C is our weakest position on the line.
@codrutc My face is on Twitter!
Also... I'm taking this as a compliment?
@LovinBlue Thanks Laura! Glad you enjoyed it.
@smonroe I don't think McGlynn is better than Satele at C, no. If Thornton starts, C is going to be the "whipping boy" position.
Holmes manages like 13 bench press reps at the combine. Of course, he is a center, and he could still have exceptional lower body strength. But I'm not getting excited about him til I see him in a game.
