Colts Schedule Press Conference for Grigson Signing
Written by Brett Mock on .
Brett Mock announces the press conference information for the Colts announcement and introduction of Ryan Grigson as the team's new General Manager.
Ushering in a new era for the Indianapolis Colts, Jim Irsay used a "owner update" in the form of a "blog" to announce officially that he was hiring former director of player personnel Ryan Grigson as the team's new general manager. The announcement includes a link to a live-streaming video that will be hosted on Colts.com for the 4:00 PM EST press conference held at the Colts offices as West 56th Street.
For those who cannot watch the streaming video because they are at work, Colts Authority will live tweet pertinent updates from the press conference that might shed some light on the team's future.
In either case, we hope our readers will tune-in, follow us on Twitter @coltsauthority, and come back to ColtsAuthority.com to discuss the press conference later today. Look out for another opportunity to discuss Colts football later in the day when the Check it to Pancakes podcast airs from 10:00 PM - 12:00 AM EST.
Wow. At the surface, and this is just a take from the interview, he seems smart, well spoken, humble but seems to have a drive to win and prove himself. He knows when to say "I don't know". He's personable and funny. I've read up on him and people seem to think he's good at what he does. Looks like a good choice! Hmmmm...
@gizzardfanny I missed the name too, but I like how he got a bit cheeky taking some credit for finding a guy who now has three rings. Right on, dude, take a bow.
@gizzardfanny Hmm... Sounded like he meant this guy, Kole Ayi: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AyixKo20.htm
Went undrafted in 2001, made it onto the Rams for six games, then played one game for the Pats before going on IR, in 2002 back to the Rams for six games, then done. I count one ring, not three.
Still a cool thing to find a UD guy who played for both of the SB teams in his rookie year, though not quite as cool as Ryan made it sound.
@squirrel@gizzardfanny I couldn't find any player on any of those rosters he mentioned that sounded like the name he said. Really curious now.
Initial impression, just based on the 3-5 minutes I've seen of him so far, is that he's very intelligent, thorough, and confident. Definitely like him so far. "It's all about the players." Bingo.
Sounds like a thorough man who wants to look at things before making decisions. That's a positive.
@squirrel I'm starting to think that's a prerequisite for being with the Colts. It was also the first Caldwell said.
@squirrel I guess. I don't think I've ever seen anyone put much focus on it where I am.
Sounds like Caldwell will have something to say about the coaching situation. Sounds like he's staying to me.
He keeps saying "intuitive decision". That doesn't make me feel better about it. I don't think with my gut because my gut has shit for brains.
as long as you're listening to the podcast while doing so, I'm cool with that @AaronHuston @gizzardfanny
yes I did. Was going to write you an email follow-up. Not about the danish advertising (I'm promoting you to VP of Marketing - Danish Division), but about one of your other comments. Just a busy day for me today @gizzardfanny
Thanks for all your work, Brett. Let´s see what nuggets of wisdom about the Colts´ future we can gleam from that press conference.
In, um, Grigson we trust certainly has a different ring to it.
I am moderately haunted by the Jeeves and Wooster series, in which Bertie's domineering Aunt Agatha was referred to by Jeeves as Mrs. Gregson (or Gregorson) if I recall.
