Instant Reaction: It's not a Dream, The Colts are in the Playoffs

Written by Marcus Dugan.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles (25) fumbles the ball as he is hit by Indianapolis Colts defensive end Clifton Geathers during the first half of an NFL football game Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, in Kansas City, Mo. The Colts recovered the fumble. (AP Photo/Orlin Wagner)

Stay tuned for our full recap within the hour.

Outgained by 305 yards before their final two drives, the Colts pulled a rabbit out of their hat in Kansas City to come up with a victory.

First Impressions

-A win is a win.  The better team didn’t play better, but they did enough to win the game.

-The Defense had a rough day but took advantage of every opportunity that came their way.

-Jerrell Freeman is not a man I want tackling me when he’s angry…or ever, for that matter.

-The Colts need to do something about their abysmal pass protection.  That kind of thing is going to shorten Andrew Luck’s career if it continues.

-Dwight Freeney fought through some blatant holds in this game.

-The Colts are in the playoffs, but the downward trend in offensive production puts a damper on the excitement.

-As I type this, Cincinnati is also clinching the playoffs.

Full recap is on the way.

This is not about rewards points. It is about wins and losses. Time of possession, yardage and statistics sometimes do not matter. Who said "you play to win the game." It is about putting the team in a position to win and succeed. Take advantage of your opportunities and execute them. Who knows where this team can go? Lets ride the wave on chuckstrong and Luck. Maybe we are on a mission! I do not like the idea of resting players. This is not the Polian era. These are young players, and they need their reps and routines.

This a game that Nate will love in order to show we have the worst D in the league. Pure statistical hell for the Colts. Yet the D held them to 13 and stopped them when it counted. Sure, KC helped us, but I still say we don't have the worst D. Stats don't take into account the critical fourth Q situation.

What do we need to clinch 5 seed? This was a hard win to watch haha. Some uuuuuggggly play on both side of the ball. As I said to my friend several times throughout the game: "Thank god we're playing the Chiefs."

Well, did a little research. We clinch 5 seed with a Ravens win this week or next. If they lose both, then we will need to win next week to get 5th seed to then play the Bengals. I don't think it matters much whether we play Ravens or Bengals, but we really need to get the 5th seed to have a good shot of making divisional round.

@7IHd We already have the five seed. If the Ravens lose both two games, they'll be 9-7. The Colts already have 10.

@Kyle Rodriguez Ah, you are quite correct. For some reason was thinking they'd have the same record as us if we both lost out.

The Colts are giving me an ulcer.  Luck isn't throwing interceptions, that's good.  Receivers are not holding onto passes.  Running is abysmal.  But still, it's better than a sharp stick in the eye.

@buymymonkey He almost threw that one on an ill-advised pressured throw. But at one point he wasn't completing anything to either side. Still, came up big when it really mattered and we came out with the game we had to win, so I'm happy. Also, REGGIE!!!!

@buymymonkey Let's be honest, if we knew six months ago that the Colts were gonna be in the playoffs, we'd all be flabbergasted :o. So, I'm just happy we're in and we have a shot. Sure, we're probably gonna get crushed in the first game, depending on who we play, but hey, we made it!
