The Colts are making roster moves in light of Sunday's injuries, with a multiple signings in the last couple of days.
Yesterday, the Colts waive/injured linebacker Scott Lutrus, due to his torn ACL. To fill his open roster spot, the Colts signed running back Alvester Alexander, an undrafted free agent signed by the Bears earlier this offseason.
Alexander played football for the University of Wyoming Cowboys from 2009-2011, leaving after his junior year for the 2012 NFL draft. He amassed several impressive statistics while at Wyoming, including the following (From KOWB radio):
Alexander concluded his Wyoming career ranked No. 9 on the UW career rushing list, with 2,127 yards. He also ranks No. 3 in school history in career rushing touchdowns, with 27.
Alexander is a speedy little back, who likely will simply contribute as a camp body and special teams player until Mewelde Moore and Delone Carter heal from their rib injuries.
Today, the Colts announced another roster move, this time waive/injurying CB Buddy Jackson, while signing LB Mike Balogun.
Balogun entered the NFL in 2010, and has bounced around several teams' practice squad ever since going undrafted. He did play two games for the Bills during the 2010 season, but outside of that has been limited to practice squad and training camp.
As for his college career, it's a little muddy:
Balogun was a standout inside linebacker for the Oklahoma Sooners in 2008. He was declared ineligible to play the 2009 season because he allegedly played for the Maryland Marauders of the North American Football League, a minor league team in Maryland after turning 21 years old.
Like Alexander, Balogun is likely just a camp body, with Lutrus and Pat Angerer's injuries severely weakening the linebacker position.
Also, while Jim Irsay's twitter reports that Lutrus was "placed on IR," and Jackson was "waive/injured," it should be noted that because Lutrus has less than four years of experience, both players have been waive/injured and will have to clear waivers today in order to go on IR. This has been confirmed by the Colts' transaction page.
